they are both very hard. both take alot to scratch or damage. the difference is that porcelains have a finish on the surface so if you chip it you will see a different color in the chip. if you chip granite there is no difference in color because what you see on the surface of granite is what it looks like through the stone and all you have to do is fill the chip with a clear epoxy filler.
porcelain
Both Materials are technically very good. The quality of the product (the slab) is very good, but they are made with 2 completely different manufacturing process. Silestone is a Factory based in Spain, that uses a Breton System; Granite Transformations manufactures with a Vibration System in their plant in Sebring Florida. Silestone manufactures primaraly 3/4" or 1 1/4" slabs (2 or 3 cm), Granite Transformations 1/4" slabs (6.6 mm). Granite Transformations system is an overlay over an existing or new substrate, the only one of his kind in the world, while Silestone is a regular slab. Granite Transformations production uses high concentration of Recycled Glass, Recycled Porcelain, Granite and Quartz, while Silestone is mainly Quartz. Granite Transformations colors are different than Silestone, and when you get to color selection it is up to you to decide. Granite Transformations layover process allows the remodeling of a surface is a very short time and with minimum dust, Silestone installation is a regular installation.
you make it :)
The answer is in the question. Natural granite and engineered granite are like steak and beefburger. However, engineered granite is probably more practical and cheaper in the long run. See link.

Porcelain.
Ceramic tiles are supposed to be more easily damaged, but both can break if hit hard enough. You'll probably be happiest choosing whichever you like best. Make sure to buy some extras to replace broken tiles.
A metal based tooth for a bridge is definitely stronger than just porcelain, but depending where the bridge is in the mouth, it may not be as aesthetically pleasing as just porcelain would be.
One substance that is stronger than sand is concrete. Concrete is a composite material made of aggregates (such as sand) bonded together with cement, making it a durable and solid material for construction.
Granite is generally considered to be more durable and stronger than marble. Granite is a harder and denser stone, making it a popular choice for high-traffic areas such as kitchen countertops. Marble is more prone to scratching and staining due to its softer nature.
If you are looking for long lasting countertops that stand up to anything, yes they are worth it. Some argue that tile is just as durable as granite but the one piece granite is often stronger.
Yes, you can use granite ware on glass cooktops as long as the cookware is flat-bottomed and in good condition. Avoid sliding granite ware on the glass surface to prevent scratches. Additionally, follow the manufacturer's guidelines for safe and effective use on glass cooktops.
Porcelain changed the Chinese life by giving them the opportunity to carry more things, because of the thickness, and how strong porcelain is it can carry a load. Also in buildings, it makes the structures stronger, usually in office buildings and sometimes even houses!
Porcelain is a man made glazed product. It is fired at a hightemperature and made with consistent colors and textures. They are generally non porous because of the glazing process, also strong, and made in many styles. Porcelain is best cleaned with a simple vinegar and water solution. Grout lines can be as large as 1/2" and as small as 1/16". Tiles are often quite large, 20 x 20 giving a different look. Granite tiles are a natural product. Cut from granite deposits, it can vary greatly from one tile to the other. High quality granite is quite strong, but cheaper tiles can be highly prone to breaking. Granite, especially green granite, are very moisture sensitive. Also, being natural stone, it is a porous tile, and will need sealing regularly. The grout for granite must be non-sanded, making grout joints 1/8" or less only. Still, granite is a very elegant look, but a lot more up keep.
Gneiss is typically harder than granite due to its higher metamorphism. Gneiss is formed from rocks that have undergone intense pressure and heat, which results in a stronger and more resistant rock compared to granite, which forms from the cooling and solidification of magma.
