I would disagree with the above statement, Nicotine is no more harmful to your body than Caffeine and both are classed the same in addictiveness. LD50 Nicotine 50mg / Caffeine 192mg.

In any case Nicotine gum is FDA approved as a stop smoking plan and far safer than smoking.
