Remington firearms can be dated- but NOT from the serial number. There is a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the barrel, left side, about a quarter inch from the receiver. Go to the website for the Remington Collectors Association for the chart to translate letters to month and year.
The Remington 700 is a model number. It is chambered in different calibers. The 30-6 being one of them.
Probably 1927. Best to check the barrel codes, look up the details on the manufacturing date on the Remington Society of America.
I collect Winchesters and have never heard of a Model 6. Please RUSH and Email me a clear, cropped picture reduced to EMAIL size, ASAP!!!. I would like to see it as there is no record of a Model 6 Winchester rifle. Remington made a model 6 single shot, but only 250,000 were made so that serial number doesn't compute.
