There are three known rifles once owned by Davy Crockett. One, probably used extensively on the frontier, is now on exhibit at the East Tennessee History Center in Knoxville. A second, the one named Old Betsy, was presented to him by his constituents in 1822 and left with his son when he went to Texas. This rifle is in the Alamo Museum in San Antonio. The Whig Society of Philadelphia presented him with a third rifle, which was named Pretty Betsy. It is privately owned by a descendant.
Davy called his rifle "Beautiful Betsy."
In the days of Davy, rifles like his were built by individual gunmakers, and so did not have a brand name.
