I believe it's the same as the new Daisy Avanti Champion model 499. It's loaded by unscrewing the tip of the barrel and sliding out the shot tube. It's gravity fed after that.

It all depends on which Daisy model 99 you are asking about. 99 Target special: Variant 1=1959, Variant 2=1960-1979 99 Champion: mfg 1967 99 Lucky McDonalds: mfg 1960
It's not designed to shoot pellets. Forcing it to do so may jam the barrel.
I assume you are asking about the 99 "Champion" not the 99 "Target special". In good condition it would be worth between $45 - $60
