Not certain, but I THINK Sportsarms was the importer of pistols made by Herbert Schmidt of Germany. Try searching for Herbert Schmidt and see if you have any better luck. Importation of many handguns stopped under the 1968 Gun control Act- yours may have been one of those. Good luck in your search.

The original manufacture of the Iver Johnson Model 55 Target pistol maybe able to provide an owners manual. The manual will have instructions on what is need to maintain the product.
Check gunpartscorp website, under H for Herbert Schmidt, and check under small frame. There are still SOME parts available for these.
This pistol was manufactured between 1946 and 85. It came in .177 or .22. The box and instructions make it more valuable. However you did not state the condition of the pistol so I cannot give you an estimated value.
