Many hunting stores sell both new and used equipment, so it is likely that one would be able to find used Nikon rifle scopes there. As well, many are available online at stores such as Amazon and eBay.
Burris Brand Scopes make scopes for various uses. They make binocular scopes, rifle scopes, spotting scopes and tactical scopes. It is the only US based optical scopes company that has kept all production in America.
Only if the scope is designed for an air rifle. Because of the recoil being different on an air rifle than a firearms rifle. Air rifle scopes are made differently than firearms scopes. A firearms scope can break it's glass mounts if it is used on an air rifle.
Could be several depending on the scope mounts used. The M81(cross hairs) & M82 (post) scopes were based on the commercial Lyman Alaskan 2.2 power scopes. Also used the M84 scope and the Marines used the Stith Kollmorgen 4XD MC-1 scope

The marines issued a 7.8x Unertl scope. The army the 2.5x m84
Standard infantry rifles did not, but there were scoped rifles used for sniping during WWI.
The Internet.
Southern Precision Instruments Company Incorporated I don't know that they are in business anymore. The website they have is very outdated and only mentions their microscopes and telescopes. No mention of rifle scopes. If you look at the logos on their other products, it matches the logo on my SPI rifle scope (that I purchased used with no paperwork). The logo is a diamond with an SPI in the diamond. A sample picture of the logo on a telescope can be found below: http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/attachments/2036141-SPI_Focuser.jpg

A Unertl rifle scope; sources vary on it's power, either 8X or 12X. The US Army used Redfield scopes with 3x9 adjustable range finders. The Marines used bolt action rifle, the Army used semi-autos (M14's, called XM21 weapon's systems).
