It's hard to find cheap Legos, but sometimes you can get them on sale at places like Target or Wal-Mart ... sometimes the giant sets don't sell, and so they reduce the price if you go to the sale area. You can get used sets at Thrift stores sometimes, though it is hit-or-miss whether they are there, or how fast they sell.
