It is not available on DVD at this time. I think it was at one time but no longer. You can find copies of it that people have recorded and offer for sale. Until Hallmark decides to release it, the only option is to have someone record it for you when it comes on TV (or buy one of the offers you can find through places like ioffer or sell (dot) com.

You should only buy an HD DVD player for two reasons: 1. If you can afford to buy the HD DVD player and 2. Only if you buy HD DVDs all the time and can't bear to watch it without the best quality.
I don't know about DVD (wait a sec, maybe I do) but you can find a lot of the classic Christmas cartoons like, `Hardrock, Coco and Joe', `Suzi Snowflake' and others believe it or not, on You Tube. You can also stop by the broadcast museum's website where you can download some features and also buy DVD's of older shows. I also seem to recall that they had a classic cartoon DVD for the Christmas cartoons.
No, currently 'When We Were Beautiful' is only available if you buy the new CD/DVD set. However, the documentary is airing on Showtime this month. If you have Showtime, you can watch it there without having to purchase the DVD.
