This is a common item to break on the JK shift linkage assemblies. There are two of the bushings one at the top at the shifter. The Volvo 960 does not use a cable type shifter, it uses a rod style shifter linkage. It is a rod from the shifter and one from the transmission connected by a long rod. There is a bushing at each pivot point.
The shifters main problem is always on the bushing. What you need to do is to loosen the bottles holding oneÊ end and the clip then remove and install the new bushing.

The shifter cable connects the shifter to the transmission.
