When you are charging your iPhone it blinks on off then you have to check out the USB cable. Make sure that you are going to use only supplied USB cable. If you are using other accessories then it will not support your iPhone.
Also while charging keep a your eye on battery. If you will see that the red part of battery image flash 3 times and screen goes black then it directly indicate that your device is not receiving proper power to charge.
