When was the smith and Wesson 629-3 made ser BPR5179 and what does the 3 mean?

the -3 stands for the revision number. the oldest 629s wont have a dash or be called "no dash" models then it goes 629-1, first revision and so on. as for your serial number my smith book says it was made in late December 1993. good luck, I hope this helps.
