When do most people start dating?

Usually, it depends on the parents. Some stricter parents won't let their child date until after high school, but others are more lenient and let their children date after entering high school.

Some people prefer to wait until they are out of school before they start dating. Having a girlfriend or boyfriend could interfere with your studies if you don't have a little self-discipline.

Also, it's different for girls and boys. Everyone knows when you're little, like five or six, you have a new boyfriend or girlfriend each week. Then, we go through the "cooties" stage, where guys are smelly and gross, and girls are stupid and weak. Girls mature before boys, so they break this stage and start looking for real boyfriends at a younger age.

For girls, the average is around 14-15 when they get their fist boyfriend. For guys, it's around 15-16. Over the years, these numbers have been getting lower, but this is still about the average age where the two actually understand what it means to be in a relationship.

If you are a twenty-something reading this and you still haven't had your first date, DON'T SWEAT IT!!! It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with you. It simply means you are a "late bloomer."
