In 1911, Westinghouse introduced an electric chafing dish. Made of sheet steel, it could be turned over and used as a hot plate. The main setback was developing a dependable variable heat control that could compete with a traditional hotplate. In 1953, Sunbeam introduced the Automatic Frypan. It was a square cast-aluminum pan with a built-in element. The black plastic handle featured a heat control and "fry-guide" reminiscent of the "mix-finder" of the Sunbeam Mixmaster. S. W. Farber, Inc. produced the first stainless steel electric frying pan in 1954.
It is my understanding that originally Aircap units were built by a division of Sunbeam. Sunbeam was bought out by Aircap, who in turn, was purchased by MTD (Modern Tool & Die). It is also my understanding that Sears carries parts for some of those units. Your model and serial number will probably be necessary. I have worked for a week to find out who built my "The Snow Thrower" only to run across this info this evening. A call to a dealer who has been around for a while may help you. MTD also has a customer support line.
Sunbeam batteries, like many alkaline batteries, are typically made from a combination of materials including zinc, manganese dioxide, and potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte. The outer casing is usually made from steel or plastic. Additionally, some rechargeable variants may contain nickel and cadmium or lithium-ion components, depending on the specific type of battery.
The Sunbeam company products products that fall into the housewares category. They sell a multitude of smaller kitchen appliances, such as blenders, toasters and microwaves, as well as space heaters and electric blankets. Their products can be found at large retailers nationwide.
The Sunbeam Alpine was manufactured in the United Kingdom, primarily at the Rootes Group factory in Coventry. Production began in 1959 and continued until 1968. The Alpine was designed as a compact sports car and became popular for its stylish design and performance.
