There should be markings on the left side of the barrel by the proofmark like K or an E and Remington has a year chart on their website

They were made from 1936-1940, they are date code stamped (month/year) on the barrel. The location diagram and code table is available on the Remington Society of America.

I have found that the originals were produced in the 1930's used for squirrel and rabbit hunting. Mine is from 1936 and was my Grandfathers during the depression for food. I am also selling mine to get my son's a deer gun. Will stay in touch
