Impossible to attempt to answer. With make and model we MIGHT be able to give a range of dates, without them, no way. Sort of like "I have a 6 cylinder car that was made in Detroit- what year is it?"
Gun smith, gun shows.
Impossible to answer without a detailed description
Depends on who made it, accessories, condition, etc.. Could be 100-10000 USD
Please reply to the address below with ALL of the markings on the rifle. sales@countrygunsmith.net
I assume your single action is pre-war ? If so, then made about 1907. As to the caliber, check markings on barrel. that should give the caliber.......
I believe I have a Marlin No.18 pump action octagon barrel single shot rifle. Would upload photo but cannot locate this option.
One POSSIBLE maker (you did not give us a lot of info to work from) was Anciens Establishments, Peiper of Herstal, Belgium. If you gun has a small marking of the letters ELG in an oval, that is the prrofmark for Liege, Belgium.
I highly suspect that the rifle has an octagon (8-sided) barrel. The October 7th, '79 patent date strongly points towards the rifle being a Browning or Winchester Single Shot rifle. The serial number on the barrel or the lower tang will help solve the mystery.
Browning introduced the B78 rifle with an octagon barrel in 1972. This model was part of a series of single-shot rifles designed for precision shooting and hunting. The B78 gained popularity for its classic design and craftsmanship.
50 USD
No that's probably a serial and while some may have a prefix others models done and they are not unique. A start would be any writing on barrel or elsewhere, caliber if known, type i.e. single shot, pump, auto, revolver... Basically the best description possible including barrel length, shape (round/octagon).
Somewhere between $30 and $3000. Everything depends on make, model, and condition.
