made in 1943 by Remington Rand. pistol manufcturers i.d. by serial number. if your slide says Ithaca it was probably put on after field cleaning when all parts are mixed when putting back together.
A number of rifles did not have serial numbers prior to 1968. but, that has changed.
The 1100 designation for a Remington shotgun is the model number. Remington makes the 1100 model in a trap version and a field version.
Westernfield was a brand name used on guns sold by Montgomery Ward stores- and made by gun makers such as Remington, Mossberg, High Standard, etc. We cannot tell the model from a serial number, and cannot tell the age except in general terms.
With a 23+ inch barrel, this is deadly accurate. I have a 572 with a barrel that length & stamped with a symbol that looks like a Chevy symbol & the letter E Z. Nothing else. This rifle was purchase in 1976 as a Field-master pump & I have been searching for years to find out why this rifle has a barrel made in October 1931on it. Now I know it's a leftover from that period & assembled on to the 572 Field-master when ever. The serial number is 190930x. I have no idea when this was assembled. Hope you find this uninformative.
serial number found on right side of the frame, above and to the left of the trigger guard... during field cleaning 45 pistols were disassembled and when put back together parts were often mixed (on military guns) if you see Colt or Ithaca on the slide it does not necessarily mean the pistol is a Colt or Ithaca. It could be a Remington or US&S made pistol..........................again, based on serial number
