There are numerous reasons not to drink alcohol while taking lamotragine. Lamotragine is generally used as a mood stabilizer or anticonvulsant. Persons with either bipolar or seizure disorder are not advised to drink alcohol because it can aggravate symptoms and very possibly contribute to a seizure or manic or depressive episode. Alcohol can interfere with the functioning of lamotragine since they both affect the central nervous system.

That said, many persons taking this medication drink alcohol without adverse effects. Consuming alcohol in large quantities is much riskier than moderate drinking (I mean one or two drinks). If you are going to drink recognize that it's generally regarded as unsafe by health care professionals and most people taking this medication probably don't drink. Start slow and in safe environments such as your home, you'll be able to see how alcohol affects you personally since this is very different for different persons.

Short answer - maybe nothing but possibly a serious adverse reaction.
