If we think about that from the beginning of time then by now everything would have melded together in a world-wide, possible galaxy-wide organic cancer or never-ending, constantly reproducing cells. Forever.

The simplistic answer would be that we would be pretty crowded by now. However, there are more humans living today than all the ones that have died in the past, so I guess we could squeeze some room. What about all the animals we eat on a daily basis? Take that back a couple of thousand years or more. The truth is there are only finite resources available on this planet, a immortal system could never be sustained, unless we didn't need to eat or drink, but it would still be crowded.
