That will depend on who is trying to sell it.

the 9422 are currently not in production and as of Jan 2008 the run on Winchester rifles is still going on, so prices are greatly inflated.

This rifle should sell for $430 to $500, but I have seen it offered (OFFERED mind you not sold for) as much as 50% to 100% higher!

Winchester is still making rifles and shotguns, and are now (feb 2008) making the Model 70 bolt action "rifleman's rifles" again, the only thing that closed was the New Haven , CT plant, now that many of the New Haven produced rifles are being made in Tenn, and elsewhere in the USA you will see the mad dash to buy these thigns fade out.

Book value on this rifle is under $580

It really depends. Since 1972 the production of 9422 rimfires totaled 750,000. The magnum production was significantly less. The 9422m Trapper production were even more limited. I purchased one last year for $750.00. The information I obtained from Winchester about that levergun, It was produced in 1998 and total production was 495. A final production High Grade Legacy Tribute with a two digit serial number I purchased cost $1064.00 Factory info provided manufactured 2005 total production 328. Three of a kind isn't much of a Poker hand but it makes a fine set of 9422 magnums. They aren't being produced and the best examples are hard to come by.

Investment Winchesters have made money when a lot of Investment money has been lost in the Stock Market.
