It's completely personal preference. Some like strong perfumes, others prefer none at all.
For example, I like mild perfume that doesn't smell across the whole room and for the scent, for me you'd simply have to pick something that doesn't smell like food, musk or medicine.
I think as a general rule, if you're looking for something to wear for your boyfriend, it won't really matter what exactly it is as long as he knows you put it on only for him. If you're worried you might put on a perfume that will push all guys around away from you magically, then just don't wear any at all.
