This may sound mean, but it's true. Move on. There's nothing you can do about it...

OR always call him when you think you should like when you do something really cool and might not do again new family members(like adoption having a baby etc.) or just when you wanna tell him you miss him! This is just a suggestion if he just moved to a far away country if he died well.... stick with whats up there

Moving on is definitely the best idea. The more time you spend with him/her before they leave the more it will hurt.
