If it's yours, you can practice toning it down.

You might start by trying to make it louder. (Do this when nobody's around.) This will show you that you can control it. Then try different volumes for different environments. It's good to be able to project in an auditorium, but in a cubicle farm please have mercy on your neighbors.

If it's someone else's, good luck. There's no way you can make your quiet louder than their noise.
