The 132 came with plastic or wood grips. Some of the plastic grips had Checkering, however I do not believe the wood grips ever had checkering.
The Capitan HP model with a high polish Blueing came with wood grips. The matted finish came with Black plastic grips.

The L93865 is the serial number. These small derringers, along with FIE, Uberti, Rohm GmbH, EIG, and other European copies are styled after the Remington model 95 41 rim fire. Since the ammo is pretty scarce for the Remingtons, these were generally chambered for 22 LR and 38 Spl. These were all outlawed as imports in the gun control act of 1968 for not meeting the barrel, size, weight requirements. The value of your Excam TA-38 (same as the Tanarmi TA-38 and the FIE D-38) is dependent on the condition of the piece. They can usually be found from $20 to $150 now, with $150 being the highest one should ever pay for one that is NRA 100%. I own a collection of these types of derringers, where I seek them out when I find a nice example that has some unique attribute. They all need to have trigger jobs to make them shootable - they are usually about 20 pounds, I guess to keep you from firing them accidentally. The serial number you list is much higher than any of mine, so I would guess yours is one of late manufactured.
