most of them do depending on how old you are. I would say almost every state in the U.S. have a smoking ban. You also have to be 18 years old to smoke so if the person who asked this question is under 18 will be arrested.

IF congress bans smoking in schools why not in all other places PLEASE ANSWER Thurloly?

Congress has not issued any nationwide federal smoking bans for any locations. All smoking bans are due to local or state ordinances. 28 states have statewide bans on smoking in all enclosed public places and 10 have no ban on any non-government owned locations. One reason why schools are targeted is because of the toxic properties of second hand smoke and the age of the students.

Why do all public places have to be smoke free?

Public places are required to be smoke free by law in many states because of the newly discovered effects of second hand smoke on health. Whenever you smoke around others, the second hand smoke (smoke that you do not inhale or smoke that you exhale) can be inhaled by others. This smoke is actually more dangerous to the lungs. Therefore, when you smoke around others, you are not only endangering your own health, but theirs as well. Many states have decided that in public places, every person has the right to their health, and so smoking has been outlawed in these areas.
