50mm at least.I have found that with a 50mm objective you will need a minimum of high scope rings. Most medium hight scope rings will not give you the clearance needed for a 50mm scope objective.
Being that the obj.is 50mm,I would put on a pair of 1in.high rings.

While anything is possible, why would you want to use a scope of that power and objective size on a .22 cal.rifle? If your receiver has a built in 3/8in receiver rail then you may be hard pressed to find rings of the significant height to mount a scope of that size.I would recommend that you get a scope of 4X power. That is all that is needed for the maximum affect range of a .22cal rifle.
It is the width of the front (objective) lens in millimeters. A 50 mm objective is just that- 50mm, or just under 2 inches, across.
Brownells, Midway, even Amazon- but I would check with Ruger first for suggestions. Mounting a 50mm scope will be difficult due to lack of clearance- a 56mm will be VERY difficult. And not that you asked, but probably too much glass for a rifle that is not a high precision target rifle.

Maybe. Question is if the bell of the objective lens will clear the barrel when mounted. Some will, some won't. Other than that, If the size of the tube of the 2 scopes is the same, and the objective is clear of the barrel, you should be OK.
It is: 50mm = 5cm
Canon makes the best 50mm camera lens, known as the EF 50mm f/1.8mk2, 50mm f/1.4 USM and 50mm f/1.2L lenses
