∙ 11y agoThe bore is the inside of the barrel- that is, the hole that the bullet is fired through. The diameter of the bore is measuring how wide the bore is from one side to another.
The TIGHTEST choke (which is smallest) is the Extra Full. The largest (no choke at all) is known as a cylinder bore.
Bore diameters vary from gun to gun due to wear reduction of the boring tools and to accurately find he bore diameter you must "Slug the barrel". In most cases, it is safe to use bullets of the same diameter as those used by the factory when making ammunition.
This is a shotgun with an internal barrel diameter (called the "bore) of approximately .410" which shoots a shell which is about .410" in diameter. It is the only shotgun shell size that uses this convention. A 12 gauge shotgun, for example, does not have a bore of "12". A 20 gauge shotgun has a smaller bore than a 12 gauge and a 10 gauge has a bigger bore than a 12. Gauge size is based on the number of lead balls of the bore diameter which are required to make a pound (16 ounces). 10 balls, 12 balls, or 20 balls.
The bore refers to the hole in the gun barrel thru which the projectile (bullet) passes. Some guns have a smooth bore, but many modern guns, both pistols and especially rifles, have a rifled bore, that is, the bore has a helical (spiral) groove that causes the projectile to spin as it flies thru the air. The diameter of the gun's bore determines the size of the bullet or shell (e.g. .22, .45, 9mm, etc.)
The bore of a gun relates to the diameter of the hole in the barrel - and in turn the diameter of the bullet the gun can fire.

The best way to improve accuracy from a paintball gun is by matching the size of the paint being shot to the inner diameter bore of the barrel.
Caliber "Caliber" is a word for the diameter of the bullet or the bore of the gun.

It depends on the caliber of the bullet.

The bore is the inside diameter of the barrel. Simply put, it's the hole down the middle of the barrel.
It is determined by the number of lead balls of the same diameter as the barrel bore needed to make one pound. e.g. 12 lead balls of .735" diameter weigh one pound - therefore the shotgun with that bore size is called a 12 gauge.
By measuring the inner diameter of the barrel across the lands.

The range is not directly related to bore diameter. And the largest gun over built (The Tsar bombard) has a 36" bore.
