the Carcano carbine, a WW2 Italian rifle. It had a low power scope. It has been said the Carcano is an unlikely sniper rifle and it is difficult for most people to believe the Carcano capable of accurate distance shooting, as with shooting of JFK\

Actually, over such a short distance, the Carcano was more than adequate. Remember, Oswald was a Marine trained marksman, who had all the time in the world to practice with the weapon. But an expert who had no chance to practice with the weapon, was able to match Oswald's performance.
