This study was conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) who predicts that the number will grow by 40% in just 10 years. Experts say that urbanization and the influence of Western lifestyle (including fast food choices, little exercise and stressful jobs) are contributing factors to the global population becoming increasingly overweight.
Another article states that until 2005, approximately 23.2% of the world's adult population was overweight. Researchers at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, in Washington, released a report stating that 58 percent of the world population will succumb to obesity by 2030.
