If you live in a state where machine guns are legal, you must find a shooting range that is a class III dealer and has a machine gun to rent. Otherwise, to legally shoot one, you have to find someone who owns a machine gun and let them take you to the range.
Thompson contender
Depends on the machine gun. The US M60 has an effective range of 1,100 meters. The Browning M2 .50 cal has an effective range of 2,000 yards.
Depending on the size of the gun and the amount of rounds the gun fired determined the range of the gun. But the average range was about 400-800 meters. Hope it helps!
That is not really possible, since your question is too broad to accurately answer. You may be referring to the TYPE of firearm, or the CALIBER of the firearm- and there are thousands of different calibers- or some ranking of weapons in a video game. In GENERAL, the handgun has the shortest useful range, followed by the shotgun, the submachine gun, the rifle and the machine gun- last being the longest range. I have excluded artillery grade weapons from the listing.

Machine Guns, like any other gun (with the possible exception of an air soft gun) could seriously harm, and even kill you if at point blank range. Any gun could kill you, so, yes. a machine gun is powerful.
There are no (Kept) records for this category. However the PCP (PreCharged Pneumatic) Class of air rifles will have the longest range.
It differs with every machine. Large military helicopters generally have longest range and near highest speeds.
The maximum effective range of the M249 light machine gun is 1,000 yards (910 meters).
1500-2000 meters
The MP40 (machine pistol) was a Good, short range sub-machine gun used by Germany during the second world war. It had a 32 round magazine and had a caliber of about 9mm. It had somewhat difficulties during long range but was fantastic for room clearing and for clearing out bunkers etc.
