Winchester did not make a model 81.
Be Careful! Winchester did not make a Model 81.Remington made a model 81 Woodmaster in 30 Rem.cartridge.This is different than the 30-30 cartridge in the fact that the 30 Rem was a rimless cartridge and the 30-30 Win cartridge was a rimmed cartridge. They both headspace differently.
Winchester did not produce a Model 81 bolt action. Exactly how is your rifle marked? sales@countrygunsmith.net
Post 81.
Of the 20,580 Model 55 Rifles that were manufactured, appoximately 81% (or 16670) were Take Downs. The Solid Frame Model 55 is the rarest Winchester model configuration ever made. If you can provide me with the serial number and caliber, I can tell you whne it was made, and the overall statistical numbers.
100-1800 USD depending on EXACTLY what you have and its condition
Book price says anywhere from $250-$350
100-1000 USD or so depending on specifics
Try Browning.com or google search it for several different retailers and aftermarket sources
The Marlin Model 1881 was Marlin's first lever action rifle. It fired much more powerful loadings that the Winchesters and it beat Winchester's Model 1886 to the market by 5 years. Condition is everything in antique guns. If it has been refinished, the collector value is very low. If it is in original condition with the expected level of wear but not abused it could get upwards of $2000. THe Model 81 was a .22 cal. bolt action rifle with a tube magazine. It was superceded by the 881 and the the 981. It sells for around $100-200, depending on condition. A good average price is 150-175
Your Model 81 was halted in the year 2003.I would surmise that Marlin had a new model in the works at the time of the model 81 demise.
Alot.
