The term "1911" is generally used to refer to the Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol. it is a pistol, and not a revolver. However, there ARE revolvers that fire the same cartridge- the .45 ACP. But they are not referred to as "1911s".
Depends on specifics. Could be 50-5000 USD or more
prices vary a great deal. I would offer $950 if in ex. cond. First of all your 1911 was made in 1912 by Colt or Remington. It probably saw service in WW1. If your pistol is described correctly I would guess a value between $2500 and $3000. I say that amount because the 1911 is a prime military item wanted on the military market to day.....The better the condition, the better the price...

The US Army were issued the Model 1911 Colt .45 automatic pistol.
if your 1911 frame does not show a serial number then someone removed it and in so doing made the frame illegal. ATF regs require firearms to have serial number and if that serial # was removed the frame is the considered illegal to posses. however, the parts are NOT illegal and may be used to build another 1911 using another frame.
Slide markings and proof marks are used also.
