10-175 usd
The year 1965 was the centennial year for the ending of the US Civil War. It is a noun and means the one hundredth anniversary.
Are you sure it's a rifle? They made a Civil War Centennial .22 short pistol. I think it was a single shot but designed to look like a revolver. The Blue Book says it's only worth $175, and that assumes it is still in the original box and has never been handled. They made over 24,000 of these while most of the Colt commemoratives had runs of less than 1000.
Serial numbers are listed in several publications try, Proofhouse publishing's Colt Serial Numbers for starters. Note the Colt factory burnt down during the Civil War so the majority of records prior to 1864 have been lost so the serial numbers listed prior to this are just estimates based on production figures.
pistol
first you would have to know gun maker: colt, remington, springfield then model or type (rifle, carbine, pistol) then caliber and last, serial number. next, look up forums on internet for that gun maker and go from there............
Small handgun that fires 22 short.
I have one also! Found out that it is not authentic. In the early 1960's thousands were printed, chemically aged, and given out at battlefield parks to commemorate the civil war centennial. Clue? All have same serial #. Mine is #415. How about yours?
Some of the many books that have been published about the Civil War: The Ordeal of the Union, Gone With the Wind, Killer Angels, Centennial history of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln and Civil War America, A Stillness at Appomattox, The Battle at West Point and many more.
It's a replica. More replica black powder guns are made in Italy than anywhere else. I am not aware of any guns marked 'Made in Italy' being used in the Civil War.
is it an original civil war pistol or a modern re-production ???
