The value of a used firearm is determined much like the value of a used car. Condition means everything! The value given in the various pricing guides assumes that the gun is in good working condition. Fron there the amount of ORIGINAL finish left on both the wood and metal parts is now the overriding factor. A model 37 in 16 guage in the pricing guide I am looking at (and this is what you might expect to pay at a gun shop) is given as ranging from $90 to $450. The high end assumes the gun is in absoluty new in box condition and that includes the original box. Having the hang tag and original paperwork would also help assure that price. A Winchester collector would, in all probably, be the only one who would pay that much. If you were to sell it to that gun shop they would probably not offer you more than 60% of what they would expect to sell it for. If you were to sell it yourself maybe half way between thoes two values.
