How did Rome rise from a group of scattered people to a successful republic?
The original Rome was more than a scattered group of people. It foundation in 753 BC involved the unification of some 15 separate settlements on what were to become the Seven Hills of Rome. It was already capable to have an army of 3,000 men, which at that time was far from being tiny. Rome became a Republic as a result of a rebellion against the last king of Rome, Tarquinius Superbus who was a tyrant. The did away with a244 year old monarchy to prevent the return of tyranny.
