is it possible to mount a rail on the barrel of the sw26c .22 s-l-lr? I noticed there are two small screws in the barrel in front of the fixed sight, and two behind the sight on top of the reciever if not for rail mounting what are these screws for?
The 26C was made long before rails were developed. The rifle use a fairly complex barrel mounted rear sight, a receiver mounted peep sight, AND had two threaded holes to permit the mounting of an offset scope mount. Havlin Sales carries a scope mount that will attach directly using the holes (no rail needed) Visit their website.
Next time please post a separate question- I caught your addition by accident.
If your rifle is a Mossberg Model 26C, single shot bolt action rifle, these were made 1938-1941. There is a modest colelctor's interest. Value would be $150 for good condition, more for higher condition, less if refinished.

Need more information. I can find no reference to a Mossberg Model "410" rifle. Is it perhaps a .410 bore shotgun? Please describe your firearm more fully.
