What is the value of a 1926 Colt 38 Official Police with serial number 577070 has an L over the serial number and is nickel plated in excellent condition?

Colt did not introduce the Official Police until 1927, although the earliest production used frames originally made for the Army Special from 1925 and 1926. That serial number, however, would date to 1932. Nickel plated guns were offered, although it would be exceptionally rare to find one in excellent condition. We would check it very thorougly, under magnification, to be sure the nickel plating was factory original. If it IS factory original nickel, in truly excellent condition, we'd put a $400 price tag on it. If it is an aftermarket renickel, half that. sales@countrygunsmith.net
