The Mossberg 46B(b) was only made in 1947-1949, when the model number changed. Excellent target rifle.
Model number changed to 46B(a) after that year
The MOSSBERG Model 46B was made between the years 1938 and 1945.
There is a Mossberg 46B, and a 46B(b), but no B46B. The 46B is a bolt action .22 Target rifle, made 1938-1946, the 46B(b) was a later model, made 1947-49. I have a few of these- they are excellent target rifles. There IS a Mossberg Collector's Society, and a good history book of Mossberg guns (More Gun for the Money). Some info on different Mossberg 22's can be found by running a Google search for epix mossberg models.
Manufactured for Montgomery Wards, this is a Mossberg Model 46B. The 46B was made from 1938-1946. Most date from before 1942 (WW 2, Mossberg was making training rifles for US Navy). The 46B is an excellent rifle.
I believe this rifle was made by Mossberg and is the Mossberg 46B. Do a search for photos of the 46B Mossberg to see if it is a match. If so, try Havlin Sales & Service as they may have a replacement trigger guard.
A Mossberg 22 rifle such as the Plinkster depending on the condition is worth around $150-200.
You could try Numrich gun parts corp.they may be found on the web.You could also look at gunbroker.com.
Cross reference to a Mossberg Model 46B. The Mossbergs were great target rifles. For some more info on Mossberg 22s, Google search for "Epix Mossberg Models".

EXCELLENT target rifles. (BTW, it is spelled Mossberg) There is some collector interest in these. Depending on condition and completeness (missing sights are expensive to replace) these may sell for $125-$200 for a specimen in very good condition. For some more info on Mossberg 22s, Google "epix mossberg models".
