there is no special code they just put that there so that u call in and they will tell u that the sim card is not compatible with the phone.
No, it will give an error message asking for the unlock code. Once you get that error, you screwed up the sim and it will not work in either phone again and it locks up your phone and it cannot be unlocked. Nextel does not have the unlock code, Motorola made the phones that way.

No, the sim is not interchangable. You will get the error "Enter unlock code" or "Enter special code", once you get that error, the phone is screwed up. Boost and Nextel do not have the code to enter. Motorola will not provide the code (both phones are manufactured by Motorola).
If the phone is unlocked you can use a chip from any service provider. The chip must be the same brand as the people you pay your phone bill to. Like if you have t-mobile then you need a t-mobile sim card, but you can use an unlocked cricket phone.
You can unlock your Motorola i870 mobile phone by using an unlock code. You can get this code from Simpleunlocking.com at reasonable price. Here they ask you to specify the country name, current network provider and IMEI number of your mobile phone. After specifying these details, they deliver an unlock code through email. Then you can unlock it using code by following the instructions given for your mobile phone from that site itself.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work, not all services will work, ie. mms, sms, dc/cg. When it doesn't work, you'll put your Boost sim back in your Boost phone and half of the time you'll be locked out of it. Trust me. When it happens, I'm the one you'll be calling for help when you dial 611 and I'll have to transfer you to Equipment Research to fix your phone. It's not fun. Here's a tip. When you put your Boost sim back in a Boost phone, it might say "Please Wait to Enter Special Code". This happens sometimes when your Boost chip has been in a Nextel phone. Wait for it to say "Enter Special Code Now". This can take up to 45 minutes. When it says to enter code now, turn your phone off for at least an hour, then turn it back on. It should be back to normal. If not, call Boost Customer Care and ask for Equipment Research..... full article:http://www.phonearena.com/forums/upload/showthread.php?t=5393 I have a boost mobile phone the Motorola i335 I have switched the sim card into multiple other nextel devices and it works minus the exceptions stated above there. I can still receive text messages though I cant respond to them with the nextel phone. I did not encounter any problems putting my sim back into the boost phone. I think it makes a difference if you have an unlimited boost account or if you are using the paygo option??? Im not sure about that but I use the unlimited plan
