If you're just starting out with your weight loss, you can easily loose 4 lbs the first week with diet and exercise, and then 2 lbs per week thereafter if you plan to stay healthy.
If health is not a concern, and you just want to move the scale short-term, you can kick your exercise in to overdrive and lose about 5lbs per week for about 2-4 weeks. I once joined a weight loss competition and lost 20lbs in one month by doing 4-5 hours of cardio daily. Onother person lost about 30 that first month. My weight loss slowed drastically after that.
Once your body discovers that you're starving and working out too hard, your metabolism will slow down and your body will try to hold on to it's fat for dear life. At the same time, after doing so much cardio you start to also burn muscle, furthermore slowing weight loss. Rapid weight loss doesn't mean you're shrinking in size much either. A lot of the weight being lost when you kick your cardio into overdrive is actual muscle, meaning, when you get off the plan you might gain more weight than you lost.
