The following applies to Federal Laws of the USA. The term "rifle" means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of an explosive to fire only a single projectile through a rifled bore for each single pull of the trigger. *
The term "short-barreled rifle" means a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length and any weapon made from a rifle (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if such weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches. *
So, in order to remain compliant with federal code without having to register and pay a NFA tax on a rifle, the barrel of a rifle, as measured from the face of the closed bolt to the muzzle must be at least 16", and if you are shortening a rifle, the rifle must be at least 26" in length when it is ready to fire.

In Ohio, the legal minimum barrel length for a rifle is 16 inches. Any rifle with a barrel length shorter than that would be considered a short-barreled rifle, which is regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA).
The minimum legal barrel length for a rifle without requiring it to be tax stamped and registered as a Short Barreled Rifle is 16 inches - that's federal law, and not just Vermont.
As long as you follow all Federal laws, any length you want.
16 inches without requiring an NFA permit, the same as it is for the rest of the country.
Sixteen inches is the legal minimum for ALL rifles in the U.S.
22 inches is the legal length.
Without requiring an NFA Class II permit (for a short barreled rifle), 16 inches. That's federal law, and it does not vary between states.
Keep the over all leingth of the firearm greater than 26" and you can have whatever barrel leingth you desire.
16 inches minimum, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER STATE. Anything shorter than that requires an NFA permit.
It can be, depending on the action the gun uses. It can also be illegal if you cut the barrel length below the legal limit. In the US, a Title 1 rifle must have a minimum barrel length of 16 inches, and a Title I shotgun must have a minimum barrel length of 18 inches.
