The iPod Touch sleep/wake button is the button, when pressed once, puts your iPod to sleep. It also awakens your iPod Touch from that sleep and turns on and off your iPod Touch.
To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo show up on the screen:
There are two ways to restore your ipod touch. Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button for ten seconds until the apple symbol appears. Or you can plug your ipod into itunes and restore from there. The itunes restore is a more complete way to restore.
All you have to do is hold the sleep/wake button (top left) and the home button (bottom middle) at the same time and it will take a picture.
Hold down the "sleep/wake" button at the top left corner of your ipod. The Apple logo will appear for a moment, and then your home screen will appear.
You hold the sleep/wake button, then hold the home button, then plug in your ipod and the itunes plug will show up like when it has first started.
if you hit the top button of the ipod touch it will go to sleep, not turn off, you can hit it once to "wake it up" OR while the ipod is on press And Hold the top button to turn it off and the same to turn it on.
Then turn it on. Just kidding, press the home button, if that does not work, then press the sleep/wake button at the top left of the itouch, not the screen. This is for second gen. If that doesn't work, press and hold the sleep/wake button. If that doesn't work, then you're pretty much screwed.
Have you tried rebooting it? Press and hold the sleep/wake button until you see the red power off screen. Slide the power off. Let your ipod cool off. Hold the sleep/wake button until you see the apple logo. It will reboot your iPod. Hopefully it will work now.
You hold down the "sleep/wake" button on the top left part of your ipod, then the red slider key will appear at the top of your screen. Slide the button from left to right to turn it off.
Press the lock/sleep button located on the top right of the ipod (top left for 2nd gen). It will look turned off but you simply press the button again or the home button to wake it up and "slide to unlock" on the bottom of the screen.
You just hold the sleep/wake button on the top of the ipod until you see the apple logo on the screen.
Press both the Home and Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 5 seconds. This should restart the devise. If that doesn't work, connect it to iTunes.
