The AP edition sometimes has a CD or another kind of supplement, otherwise the contents of the books are the same in most cases.

An AP Edition book is specifically tailored for advanced placement courses and often contains additional content, practice questions, and resources to help students prepare for AP exams. Regular edition books may not have the same level of depth or specialized materials for AP exam preparation.

In some cases, at least, an AP edition is a slightly abbreviated version of a college textbook. For example, I directly compared the regular and AP editions of World Civilizations: The Global Experience, fourth edition, 2004, by Stearns, et. al. The regular edition covered The Origins of Civilizations and The Classical Period in World History in 243 pages. The AP edition covered those sections in about 100 pages. The remainder of the textbooks seemed to be identical.

I don't see a way to edit or delete, so please replace "slightly abbreviated" with "selectively abbreviated" when reading. Thank you.
