By 'single threaded' you really mean single start thread. So there is just one continuous thread running up the screw. Double start thread means that two threads start from the point and run up the screw entwined with each other. For the same thread spacing the double start will screw into the wood twice as quick but require more torque to drive it. Double or Twin start often used with power screwdrivers.

Screws are threaded to twist in when turned with a screwdriver. Nails are smooth to slide in straight when pounded with a hammer.
om a fixtures are the screws
a drilling machine is used to drive nails and screws into position while boring tools are used to bore holes into wood
a cap screw has a top bigger than the threaded portion [a cap]. the cap screw does not sit flush with the material being screwed into. a machine screw has a tapered top that fits into a countersunk hole and when screwed in is flush with the surface being screwed into;
When using pressure treated wood you should look for a screw specifically rated for use in ACQ (pressure treated) lumber or use stainless steel.The greed coating may be an ACQ coating but you would have to check the package.You should NOT use zinc deck screws as the copper content in ACQ lumber will react with it causing the screws to corrode.
