Over Analyzing occurs when the critical thinker part of you forgets to switch off, perhaps through stress at work or at home or through an illness such as depression. Instead of the positive critical thinker skill being at the fore front of your mind, this is replaced by the negative over analyzer who cannot let go of the need to look at everything from every angle before making a decision.
A positive critical thinker will use their skills to find solutions whereas when, in times of stress this turns into negative over analyzing the person finds themselves unable to make decisions and/or think clearly. This turns into self destruction and can severely damage self esteem and self confidence.
However, if caught early the critical thinker in you can learn to recognize the over analytical side take steps to manage the situation.
Critical thinking is a thinking process that analyzes an ideas, statements, operations, structures and/or systems to access validity, benefit or effectiveness. Abstract Thinking is thinking in terms of concepts and ideas, rather than thinking only in terms of specific topics. Abstract though occurs as a result of Abstraction, where the thinker abstracts theories and concepts out of actual or practical situations, (or applies a theory or concept to a pratial situation). Critical thinking is used to test the validity of Abstract concepts. Abstract thought is used as a tool to increase possiblity of critcial thinking. (It is very difficult to critique a complex system without abstraction.) They are different but go together

On the other hand, a critical thinker is analytical, objective, and evaluates information carefully to make informed decisions. Both types of thinking are valuable for problem-solving and decision-making in different contexts.
Critical thinker prefers questions that would make their brains work. They prefer open-ended questions over those that can simply be answered with facts. Situational questions are also more intellectually stimulating for critical thinkers.
