However, the exception to this rule is Fur Mites often found on rats. These are much larger than other mite and can be seen easily like lice. They appear lik small black dots onthe skin of the animal. However it is important to ensure that the "dots" move or it ould be something as simple as Buck Spot, which rats can get. Mites tend to leave small scabs on he animal if they are microscopic. Both can be eradicated with products such as ivermectin available from good pet shops.
