* An affair is when you see someone on a steady basis behind your partners back. A fling is when your partner wants to experience the feeling of the opposite sex finding them attractive, but does not want any commitments so the two will meet on occasion (or a one night stand) and have a sexual encounter.
flying is the corrrect spelling not "fling" which is fling as in having an affair!!
Losing the person your having an affair on as well as the person that your having the affair with. Having an affair for someone is just that they are cheating but it becomes less of a fling when they have the option to have that person one on one and then its not so interesting anymore. You end up with nothing in the end.

Fling.
That depends entirely on the person, his reasosn for having the affair, wether or not he feels bad about it, etc. Accepting responsibility for the affair really isn't the issue in the end, the issue is wether or not he will continue to rationalize hurting his spouse when the next chance to have a fling comes along.
It depends on what form of the word you mean. One is "event," or "party" as in "The Christmas party was the affair of the season." The other is "tryst," "fling," or "two-timing" as in "She had an affair with the poolboy while her husband was away on business."
There are some advantage if you decided to have a fling, such as your wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend and children will feel betrayed if they finds out. But for you, you will have this "new friend" that will change your life because you are thinking that this person is wonderful. This person will become very special to you because you feel happy just being with this person, and before you know it you are having 2 different life away from each others. And if short to have a fling or having a fling will destroy your life and others that you love because it was only a fling.
