The difference between a bonus and fringe benefits is that the fringe benefits are constant and a bonus is not. A bonus is usually paid out once a year based on work performance. A person can enjoy fringe benefits of working somewhere all the time, like a free health care plan.

The difference between a fringe benefit and an allowance is the fact that a fringe benefit is usually not monetary. It is a benefit, such as a leased car, or the opportunity to buy discount products. An allowance is monetary. It could be something like an allowance to be paid as a reimbursement for part of your cell phone cost.

Do fringe benefits get deducted from your paycheck?

No a fringe benefit does not get "deducted" from your paycheck in a traditional manner. If you receive a check for $1000 and $250 are total taxes, then your net is $750. If you receive a check for $1200, which includes the $200 fringe, then taxes are $275, then your net is $275. The difference is that you have paid the taxes on the fringe benefit. Basically, your employer adds the fringe amount to your gross wages, figures the taxation, then removes the fringe to make is "wash".
