In my opinion, companionship is a type of relationship. So I will explain relationship first. Relationships could be associates such as; worker to boss, worker to co-worker, or class-mate to teacher. I could explain the contrasts of the two words to make it simpler. ---> Relation- Any type of association with yourself and someone else. Companion- Someone you know personally and can talk to about anything. Companionship could be relations such as; mother to child, husband to wife, boyfriend to girlfriend, and even dog to owner.
