What is the difference between being terminated or laid off from your job?

Being fired means you re failing to do your job and therefore are fired from your job. Being laid off means leaving your job because the company has to cut one of their programs and cannot afford to keep that many workers.

Laid off (or redundancy) happens when a company is forced to reduce its workforce for financial reasons.
Fired (or termination) happens when an employee does something wrong that is severe enough for the employer get rid of them.

lockout is for not accepting the demand of employer, layoff is the trade reasons beyond the control of employer

In a lay off, a company or organization makes a decision to let go people due to insufficient capital, sales losses or a reorganization. Also, a lay-off may be the result of a company moving to a faraway location.

There is a difference between laid off or layed off. In relation to being dismissed from work, the correct phrase to use is laid off. Layed off actually has no grammatical meaning.

Unless you can prove it wasdiscrimination then no. Being laid off doesn't mean the position was terminated completely. It was terminated indefinitely. If the position was otherwise needed, employers are free to re-hire you or not. They do not have to fill once held positions with the same people.
